The Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary is one among the 12 protected areas in Kerala situated 60 kms from the Munnar Town. It is home to various wild animals such as deers, elephants, giant squirrel and more. It also boasts of over 1000 species of flora and 225 species of birds. Engaging activities like waterfall trucking, river trucking and cultural visits can be arranged on request by the Forest Department and the Eco Development committee. The Pambar and Chinnar rivers flow through this area and are the major water resources of the sanctuary. The famous Rajamalai area comes under the Chinnar Sanctuary area.
